One converter for the usual mess of formats. It reads JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF, BMP and AVIF and writes JPG, PNG or WEBP. Animated GIFs are saved as their first frame.

How to convert images to JPG, PNG or WEBP in your browser
Add your files, choose JPG, PNG or WEBP under Convert to and press the button. You can mix formats in one batch: an iPhone HEIC, a WEBP saved from a shop page and an old BMP scan can all go in together and come out as the same type. One file downloads directly, several come back in a ZIP.
Behind the scenes your browser decodes each image into plain pixels and encodes them again in the new format. HEIC files are first decoded by libheif, an open-source HEIC library, because most browsers cannot read HEIC on their own. Animated GIFs give you the first frame only. If a photo carries an orientation tag from the phone, the pixels are saved the right way up, so the new file does not depend on that tag.
For JPG and WEBP a quality slider appears, set to 85 percent by default. PNG has no slider because it is lossless. The converted file keeps its original name with the new extension, for example scan.bmp becomes scan.png. Because the image is redrawn, EXIF details such as camera model, date taken and GPS position are not carried over.
Image conversion problems and their fixes
The converted file is much bigger than the original
This is normal when you turn a photo into PNG. PNG stores every pixel exactly, so a 2 MB JPG can become a 10 MB PNG. If you only need compatibility, pick JPG. If you need a small file for the web, pick WEBP.
My AVIF file will not load
AVIF is decoded by the browser itself. Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari can read it, older ones cannot. Update the browser or try another one, then convert again.
Colours look slightly different after converting
Some photos, especially from newer phones and cameras, use a wide colour profile. The browser converts them to standard sRGB when it draws the image, which can make very saturated reds or greens a touch duller. For web and sharing this is usually what you want anyway.
Converting JPG to WEBP did not reduce the size much
If the JPG was already heavily compressed, there is little left to save. Lower the quality to around 75 percent, or resize the image first. Converting a JPG to JPG at the same quality will not shrink it in a useful way either.
JPG vs PNG vs WEBP: which format to convert to
JPG: works in every app, printer, email client and upload form. Best for photos when compatibility matters more than size. No transparency.
PNG: lossless and supports transparency. Best for screenshots, logos, diagrams and images you will edit again. Big for photos.
WEBP: created by Google for the web. Smaller than JPG at similar quality and supports transparency. Every current browser shows it, but some desktop software and print services still do not accept it.
Questions
Which quality setting should I use?
85 to 90 percent looks the same as the original for most photos and saves a lot of space. Go lower only if the file must be very small.
Which formats can I convert from?
JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, HEIF, GIF, BMP and AVIF. AVIF depends on your browser supporting it.
Can I convert images to GIF, TIFF or HEIC here?
No. The tool writes JPG, PNG and WEBP, the three formats browsers can save natively. It can read more formats than it can write.
Is it safe to convert personal photos with an online converter?
With this one the photos are processed inside your browser tab and never uploaded. If you open the network panel in your browser's developer tools while converting, you will see no file being sent.
Why do I get a ZIP instead of separate files?
Browsers often block or ask about many downloads at once. A single ZIP avoids that. Convert one file at a time if you prefer separate downloads.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool runs in your browser and the files never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
