How to use Extract PDF Pages

  1. 1

Click "Select files" or drag your files onto the box.

  2. 2

Change the options if you need to.

  3. 3

Click "Extract pages" and download the result.

Type the pages you want, like 1-3, 8, and get a new PDF with only those. The order follows what you type, so 8, 1-3 puts page 8 first. The original document is not touched.

How to extract pages from a PDF without uploading it

Add the PDF and type the pages you want in the new file. Single pages, ranges or a mix of both all work: 2, 5-7, 12. You can separate them with commas, semicolons or spaces. The tool copies those pages into a fresh PDF and saves it under the original name with "_extracted" added at the end.

The file never leaves your computer. Your browser reads the PDF, copies the pages in memory and hands the result straight back to you. There is no account to create, no waiting in a queue and no logo stamped on the pages you download.

A few shortcuts save typing. An open range like 10- means page 10 to the last page, and -4 means pages 1 to 4. A backwards range such as 6-3 copies pages 6, 5, 4 and 3 in that order. Numbers higher than the page count are skipped, so a small typo at the end of the list will not stop the job.

Problems when extracting pages from a PDF and how to fix them

The pages you get are not the pages you meant

Your viewer may show the number printed in the footer, while the tool counts physical pages from the very first sheet. A report with a cover and a contents page is often off by two. Use the page counter in your PDF viewer, not the footer number, when you type the list.

The new PDF has no bookmarks or title

Extracting builds a brand new document from the chosen pages. What is on the pages comes along, but the bookmark panel and document properties such as title and author belong to the old file. If the new file needs a proper title, add one afterwards with Edit PDF Metadata.

One page is still several megabytes

A page brings along everything it uses, such as embedded fonts or a high resolution photo. That is why a single scanned page can still be heavy. If it has to fit under an email limit, run the result through Compress PDF.

You actually need several separate files

Extract always gives you one PDF. If pages 1-4 should go to one person and pages 5-9 to another, either run Extract twice with different lists or use Split PDF in ranges mode, which returns one file per range.

Extract, Split or Remove pages: which one to pick

Extract fits when you know exactly which pages you want and need them together in a single new file, possibly in a different order.

Remove pages works the other way round. You type what should go, and everything else stays in its original order. When the unwanted pages are fewer than the ones you keep, removing them is less typing.

Split is for turning one document into many files, for example one file per chapter or one file per page.

Questions

What is the difference between extract and split?

Extract makes one new PDF from the pages you pick. Split makes several files from one document.

Will the extracted pages look the same?

Yes. Pages are copied as they are, including text, images and links.

How do I extract the last pages of a PDF if I do not know the page count?

Once you add the file, the tool shows how many pages it has. You can also skip counting: an open range like 18- takes page 18 and everything after it.

Is the text in extracted pages still searchable?

Yes. Pages are copied, not turned into pictures, so text you could select and search in the original can still be selected and searched in the new file.

Can I extract pages from a PDF on my phone?

Yes. The tool runs in a mobile browser the same way it does on a computer. Very long PDFs need more memory, so on an older phone it helps to close other tabs first.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The tool runs in your browser and the files never leave your device. Close the tab and nothing is left behind.
